About This Course

Academic English for Tertiary Studies (also known as English for Academic Purposes) is designed for students with English as a second language who want to develop the language skills, confidence and proficiency required to attend an Australian university. The program is divided into five modules, EAP 1 to EAP 5, each taught over a 10-week period with 20 hours of face-to-face classroom time per week, and caters to students across a full range of English language proficiencies. Each module includes mid-term and final tests in reading, writing and listening, plus assessment tasks linked to that module such as writing reports and essays, presenting seminars, responding to academic articles and lectures, and engaging in spoken dialogue. Study skills are built into every module to familiarise students with academic study conventions and develop independent learning. The program is delivered at the Parramatta City Campus Precinct.
