The total cost of the Advanced Diploma in Philosophy is AU$34,944 at 2026 fees. This is based on $2,184 per standard unit, or $17,472 for a year of full-time study (8 units), across 16 standard undergraduate units (288 points) in total. Fees are subject to change from year to year.
The Advanced Diploma in Philosophy is available at two colleges: Catholic Theological College in East Melbourne VIC and Yarra Theological Union in Box Hill VIC. Both colleges offer Classroom, Mixed and Online modes for domestic students, and Classroom, Limited mixed and Online (off-shore students only) modes for overseas students.
Entry requires successful completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education in an Australian secondary school, or the Diploma in Theology, or equivalent. The ATAR is not used in selection. Prospective students apply by direct entry to a College of the University, and credit of up to 180 points may be granted for prior post-secondary study in theology or ministry.
Graduates of the Advanced Diploma in Philosophy may proceed to the Bachelor of Ministry or Bachelor of Theology.
Graduates will have significant foundational skills for critical study of Christian texts; skills to articulate and reflect upon foundational theological, scriptural and philosophical knowledge; strong analytical skills to analyse and communicate sound theological and philosophical arguments especially in relation to worldview perspectives; the ability to apply their skills to their own and other contexts through philosophical analysis and argument; and the ability to apply their skills to the service of others through practical engagement in contexts such as practical support ministries or cultural and philosophical analysis.
