Advanced Diploma of Accounting

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in accounting and seeking professional recognition, including tax agents, accounts managers and business analysts; and to employees performing a range of accounts management tasks for organisations in a range of industries. At this level individuals are expected to apply theoretical and technical skills in a range of situations and to display initiative and judgement in planning activities. They have autonomy in performing complex operations and can be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others within broad parameters. The fourteen units of competency extend into taxation, audit and governance — preparing tax documentation for individuals and legal entities, implementing tax plans and evaluating tax compliance, auditing and reporting on financial systems and records, conducting internal audit and monitoring corporate governance activities — supported by economic principles, financial statistics and tools, and the preparation and analysis of management accounting information. Delivered over 78 weeks at the Sydney campus in a blended face-to-face and online format at 20 hours per week, it builds on a completed Diploma of Accounting. Graduates are prepared for roles such as accounts manager, business analyst, office manager and payroll manager. After achieving this qualification candidates may choose to undertake studies at higher education level.
