To achieve the qualification, candidates must complete twelve units in total, including three core competencies and nine electives. Elective units must consist of at least six units selected from the listed electives, including at least one unit from Group A (Scripture and Theology) and at least two units from Group B (Ministry and Formation). Up to three units may be selected from any endorsed Training Package or accredited course relevant to the work outcome.
Entrants must hold the core units of the Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology or have gained equivalent learning from other sources. It is also recommended that entrants have LLN skills at ACSF level 4 or higher in the domains of learning, reading, writing and oral communication.
The 11239NAT Advanced Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology provides a pathway into the 11231NAT Graduate Certificate in Christian Ministry and Theology and the 11232NAT Graduate Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology. Graduates may also be eligible to enter a range of other higher qualifications offered by RTOs and higher education providers.
For local students, the course is delivered through online lectures and live online sessions. For international students, the course is delivered through face-to-face lectures and live online sessions. The course is available at campuses in Sydney (Rydalmere NSW), Brisbane (Runcorn QLD), and Melbourne (Wantirna VIC).
Successful completion of this course requires learners to engage in unsupervised activities including: undertaking work or work experience in a Christian ministry, completing self-paced study to revise and reinforce areas of knowledge and to complete assignments and projects, conducting research on Christian Ministry and Theology, participating in a religious community's practices and activities such as worship, small groups, pastoral care, outreach and community service, and undertaking personal formation activities including periods of devotion, prayer, personal retreat and reflection. On average, these unsupervised activities equate to 800 hours.
