To receive this qualification, students must complete 12 units, comprising 5 core units and 7 elective units. Core units include subjects such as Manage program risk, Manage team effectiveness, Apply safe design principles to control WHS risks, Manage civil works design process, and Establish and maintain a quality system.
International students must have a good command of written and spoken English and must have demonstrated an IELTS level of at least 6 or equivalent, or the successful completion of at least General English Upper Intermediate or English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate level.
This qualification provides a pathway to work as a Senior Civil Works Designer, Para-professional designer who supports professional engineers, Road Design Draftsperson, Sewage Reticulation Drafting Officer, Structural Engineering Drafting Officer, Civil Design Manager, or Contracts Manager.
After achieving the RII60520 Advanced Diploma in Civil Construction Design, individuals could progress to further tertiary level qualifications, including a range of Graduate Diploma qualifications, as well as higher education qualifications in Civil Construction or a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil).
