About This Course

The Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design (RII60520) prepares senior civil works designers and paraprofessional designers who support professional engineers on complex, technical infrastructure projects. Graduates work with significant autonomy, applying self-directed technical knowledge to strategic design and project management tasks.

Delivered face-to-face at The Bright College's Perth campus, 3 days a week (20 hours), the course runs 104 weeks including 24 weeks of holiday breaks. Students use computer-aided design (CAD) software, visit civil construction sites and projects, and learn from industry guest speakers.

The curriculum covers program risk management, team effectiveness, quality systems, safe design principles for WHS risk control, and civil works design processes, with electives in project procurement, innovative thinking, project quality and time management, and detailed geotechnical, traffic-management and concrete-structure design.

Graduates are prepared for roles including site manager, road design draftsperson, contract administrator, structural engineering drafting officer or civil construction project manager/supervisor, or may progress to further undergraduate or industry-recognised study.
