About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as designers or design paraprofessionals who support professional engineers. They perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgement in planning and determining the selection of equipment/roles/techniques for themselves and others. They are required to develop site-specific work designs to ensure the implementation of the client's site requirements. They demonstrate the application of a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination, and planning skills.

Be 18 years of age at the time of commencement of their studies
Have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
Must meet the English language requirements
Meet the Student Visa 500 subclass requirements: be a genuine temporary entrant
Meet English language test score requirements
Demonstrate financial capacity
Hold Overseas Learner Health Cover (OSHC)
Must have completed Year 12 or equivalent High School Certificate with mathematics as an essential subject. Where this criterion is not met, students will need to complete the Mathematics Placement Test prior to confirming their enrolment to the program
Student must demonstrate English Proficiency such as:
- IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) PBT
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)
- General English Advanced or equivalent
- Oban College internal English test
- Certificate IV or higher qualification with an Australian institution
Student may be required to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and digital literacy assessment
Must be able to participate in training within a simulated workplace environment, including performing manual handling tasks
