About This Course

The Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management CHC62015 qualification reflects the role of workers who are middle managers or managers across a range of community sector organisations. These people work independently and report to executive management, directors or boards of management. They undertake a range of functions requiring the application of knowledge and skills to achieve results in line with the organisation's goals and strategic directions. At this level, workers have responsibility for planning and monitoring service delivery, recruitment and performance management of other paid or unpaid workers, managing risk and contributing to continuous improvement within the scope of their specific role. This may include management of a specific program or project, or broader management of a community-based organisation, early childhood education service, not-for-profit organisation or community centre.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Applicants must show adequate evidence of competency in communication skills in their pre-enrolment LLN testing. In particular, applicants need to be able to read, comprehend, interpret, apply, write and share information to standards that will ensure safe working capacity.
Students may be required to show evidence of: Valid DCSI clearances (x 3 – Aged, Vulnerable, Working with Children); and/or National Police Clearance
Current and valid First Aid, if required by workplace/simulated work project
Be physically fit to meet industry requirements
Applicants who have completed previous study in Community Services or Health areas will be well regarded
Current and valid Department of Communities & Social Inclusion (DCSI) Screening Checks for working with Children, with Vulnerable People and in the Aged Care Sector, & Physical Fitness are required for this course
If you do not hold a current DCSI check, you are required to apply through DCSI at the time of application for enrolment at EQUALS. A DCSI check must be acquired prior to industry placement
International students must meet English language requirements as specified on the EQUALS international students page

What are the tuition fees for the Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management?

The tuition fee for domestic students is $7,995, or $1,995 under Government Subsidised Training. For international students, the tuition fee is $12,950. An Amenities Fee of $350 also applies to all students, and international students are charged an additional Student Services Fee of $250.

Is work placement required as part of this course?

Yes. EQUALS requires that students participate in a formal workplace or simulated workplace project of approximately 200 hours total as part of the Work Integrated Learning (Placement) component of the course.

What are the entry pathways into the Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management?

Direct entry into the Advanced Diploma is available to eligible applicants. Alternatively, students might choose to study the Diploma of Nursing HLT54115, Diploma of Community Services CHC52015, Diploma of Counselling CHC51015 or Diploma of Mental Health CHC53315 before commencing this Advanced Diploma course.

Can I receive credit for previous study or work experience?

Yes. If you have related prior education and experiences, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If you have successfully completed units of competency from this qualification previously, you may be eligible for National Recognition (Credit Transfer).

The Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management consists of 13 course units in total, comprising 8 core units and 5 elective units offered by EQUALS. The course duration is up to 52 weeks, with intakes available in February, April, July, and October.
