Mindroom's course entry standard is IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent). They also accept a recent Certificate IV or higher completed in Australia as meeting the course English standard. For a student visa (Subclass 500), the Department of Home Affairs accepts IELTS Academic or General Training average band 6.0, PTE Academic 47, TOEFL iBT 67 (total), OET B in each component, C1 Advanced (CAE) 161, CELPIP General 7, LanguageCert Academic 61, or MET 53, all taken within 2 years of lodgement. Lower scores may apply if the course is packaged with ELICOS.

Yes, applicants must submit a portfolio showcasing their design abilities. The portfolio should demonstrate creativity, technical skill, and an understanding of design principles. It should include typography projects (e.g. posters, logos, or editorial layouts), designs across different formats (such as branding, print materials, or digital graphics for social media), and complex layouts or multi-page designs (such as magazines, brochures, or publications that highlight attention to detail and structure).

The course is delivered over 60 academic weeks, plus 18 weeks of holidays, for a total enrolment period of 78 weeks. It is a full-time course delivered 75% face-to-face and 25% online at the Gold Coast campus located at 1/37 Connor St, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220. Domestic students also have flexible study options including 100% online and self-paced or blended learning formats.

An Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps license is required for this course. The cost is A$30.00/month including GST for international students, and A$21.99/month including GST for domestic students. Additionally, a personal laptop is a mandatory requirement for in-class studies, along with proficiency in basic computer usage and software applications including Microsoft Office or similar software.

At Mindroom, graduates who move into more senior or coordinating roles may choose to complement their design practice with additional study such as BSB50420 – Diploma of Leadership and Management (to build people, communication and organisational leadership skills) or BSB50820 – Diploma of Project Management (for those leading projects, campaigns or creative teams). Beyond Mindroom, this higher-level vocational qualification may also support applications to bachelor degrees in graphic design, visual communication, UX, advertising or related creative fields, depending on each institution's admission criteria.
