Common Questions
To be eligible, you need to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment and either hold a Diploma of Graphic Design or submit a portfolio demonstrating your ability to apply visual communication history and theory, produce professional typography, create graphic designs for 2D and 3D applications, and design complex publication layouts. You must also be an Australian Resident to apply.
For the full 12-month course, the subsidised fee is $5,531 (approximately $2,766 per semester), the concession fee is $4,204 (approximately $2,102 per semester), and the full fee is $16,019 (approximately $8,009 per semester). Additional costs include approximately $200 for art materials and a $50 contribution for participation in the Graduate Exhibition. You may be eligible for government subsidised training or a VET Student Loan.
Topics covered include Design Studio, Advanced Typography, Design Business, Photo Imaging, Packaging Design, Advertising, Marketing and Portfolio Creation. The course integrates both print and digital media applications of design. You will also work on real-world projects in conjunction with the design industry and collaborate with peers to plan, promote, and run a public exhibition of your work.
Yes, there are two information sessions available. The first is an in-person session at Adelaide College of the Arts, Room 2.03 (Design Hub) on Tuesday 19th May 2026 from 6:00pm–7:00pm. The second is an online session on Tuesday 26th May 2026 from 6:00pm–7:00pm, with a link provided to those who register. You can register for either session through the TAFE SA website.
To complete the Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design (CUA60325), you are required to complete all 6 core units and 9 elective units. Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
