Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management

The SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management at the West Australian Institute of Further Studies (WAIFS) is the top qualification in WAIFS' hospitality pathway, building on the SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management or an equivalent qualification. It refines students' existing hospitality knowledge in depth, covering financial and physical asset management, marketing strategy development, and recruiting, selecting and inducting staff, aiming to produce graduates with a strong, hard-to-overlook set of employability skills.

The qualification comprises 33 units of competency (14 core, 19 elective); students who have already completed WAIFS' Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and Diploma of Hospitality Management receive credit transfer for 26 of these units. Core units cover organisational finance, business plans, customer service, legal compliance, physical asset management, staff recruitment and performance, marketing strategy, and workplace health and safety systems.

Students without prior placement complete at least 240 hours of work-based placement covering a minimum of 50 food service periods. The course runs over 26 weeks (20 study weeks plus 6 weeks holiday), delivered Monday and Tuesday (8:45am–5:00pm) at WAIFS' Perth campus, with monthly intakes.
