The course tuition fee is $22,000 AUD plus a $250 enrolment fee and printing costs of up to $250. The tuition fees include the course uniform and a basic knife kit provided on Orientation Day. Course Progression Payment Plans are also available to approved applicants. Please note that fees can change prior to your application being accepted.
Yes, the course includes up to 36 shifts of vocational placement as part of the 2-year program. Mayfair College has partnered with Mantle Group Hospitality, allowing students to undertake hands-on vocational placement at well-established venues including Jimmy's on the Mall, Pig 'N' Whistle, The Charming Squire, The Lucky Squire (Gold Coast), Phuc Deli Viet, The Summit Cafe and Restaurant, Tai Tai, The Sound Garden, Embers, Babylon Brisbane, and the interstate NSW venue Babylon Rooftop.
Yes, Mayfair College offers RPL, Credit Transfer (CT), and Recognition of Current Competency (RCC), which are considered on individual applications. RPL identifies and validates skills gained prior to joining Mayfair College and credits can be applied based on evidence such as workplace testimonials, observations, examples of work, and video footage. Students who feel they are eligible should contact Mayfair College before enrolment, and costs associated will depend on the amount of RPL the applicant is eligible for.
The course is delivered through a blended learning model that includes supervised classroom lectures and practical sessions, simulated work environment training at classroom and industry premises, vocational placement for on-the-job hands-on experience, and online self-paced study with e-learning and progress reviews. Assessment strategies include written/oral Q&A, case studies, practical activity/observation, projects/assignments, vocational placement logbook submission reflecting industry outcomes, and restaurant services.
All students are required to wear the course uniform at all practical assessment periods and whilst on vocational placement. Uniforms are provided on Orientation Day and include a chef's jacket, chef's hat, chef's pants, and a basic chef's knife kit — all of which are included in the tuition fees. Students are required to purchase their own footwear, which must be black nonslip or industrial shoes, closed in and of suitable nature for service in the hospitality industry. Students must also provide their own computers, laptops, or tablets.
