Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management

The SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management at Fusion College of Technology reflects the role of highly skilled senior managers who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with specialised managerial skills and substantial knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate with significant autonomy and are responsible for making strategic business management decisions. The qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector and for a diversity of employers including restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. It allows for multi-skilling and for acquiring targeted skills in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming. The skills in the qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice. The course comprises 33 units of competency - 14 core and 19 electives - covering managing organisational finances, developing and implementing business plans, quality customer service practices, budgets and physical assets, legal risk and compliance, recruiting, inducting and monitoring staff, leading and managing people, business relationships, marketing strategies, establishing and maintaining a work health and safety system, food safety and hygiene, and a broad set of commercial cookery units. Practical face-to-face training is provided in a commercial training kitchen at Suite 203, 118 Church Street, Parramatta, and students are required to complete a minimum of 200 hours of practical placement. The qualification is delivered over 104 weeks comprising eight terms of ten weeks each, totalling 80 weeks, plus holiday breaks amounting to 24 weeks. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply at the time of publication.
