Common Questions
To enrol in this course, students must have successfully completed the SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management. They must also be a minimum of 18 years of age, have completed Year 10 or equivalent, and meet English proficiency requirements — either an IELTS overall score of 6.0 (with no individual section below 5.5) or a Pre-entry Oxford English online test result of no less than B2.2 with a minimum score of 71.
The duration of the course is 26 weeks, delivered through a combination of blended learning environments including classroom/face-to-face sessions, class simulations, and self-directed study.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector for a diversity of employers including restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. Possible roles include Area manager or operations manager, Café owner or manager, Club secretary or manager, Executive chef, Executive housekeeper, Food and beverage manager, Head chef, Motel owner or manager, and Rooms division manager.
A total of 33 units must be completed — comprising 14 core units and 19 elective units. A certificate is issued where all 33 units have been deemed competent. A statement of attainment is issued when only some units are deemed competent and the course is not completed in full.
After completing the SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management, students can pathway into a Bachelor of Hospitality Management. For other relevant qualifications or further study options in the cookery sector, students are encouraged to refer to www.training.gov.au.
