Advanced Diploma of Information Technology

The Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (ICT60220) is the senior qualification in Academies Australasia Polytechnic's nationally accredited ICT pathway, developed for people moving into high-level technical and business-facing ICT roles. The course concentrates on strategic and specialist capability rather than foundation skills: students develop advanced programming skills in a further language, create cyber security standards for organisations and perform cyber security risk assessments, create cloud computing services and develop cloud computing strategies for business, plan and monitor business analysis activities in an ICT environment, and develop ICT strategic business plans. Leadership and client-facing units cover managing team effectiveness and interacting with clients on a business level, while governance units address managing IP, ethics and privacy in ICT environments. A critical thinking unit develops the complex problem-solving skills expected of senior practitioners. Delivery is on campus in classroom mode over two terms (18 college weeks), extending to three terms (27 college weeks) for students who enter directly. Direct entry is available to holders of the ICT50220 Diploma of Information Technology or other relevant tertiary qualifications, or to applicants with senior ICT work experience; those students also complete the Workplace Cyber Security, Dynamic Web Development and Project Management subjects from the Diploma. Graduates are eligible for student membership of the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
