Advanced Diploma of Information Technology

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have significant experience in specialist technical skills, or managerial business and people management skills. Individuals in these roles carry out complex tasks in a specialist field, working independently, leading a team or a strategic direction of a business. They apply their skills across a wide range of industries and business functions, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor). The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to: IT strategy and organisational development: managing and communicating strategic ICT business solutions. Systems development and analysis: modelling and testing data objects, data processes and preferred ICT system solutions. The sixteen units of competency combine networking and infrastructure depth — troubleshooting advanced integrated IP networks, managing network traffic, producing ICT network architecture designs, containerisation and container orchestration services, and telecommunications regulation — with the business-facing skills of interacting with clients at a business level, planning and monitoring business analysis activities, analysing stakeholder requirements, managing development of technical solutions from business specifications and planning and directing complex ICT projects. Delivered over 104 weeks at the Sydney campus as blended learning at 20 hours per week, it prepares graduates for roles such as telecommunications network engineer, enterprise architecture manager, enterprise application integration consultant, knowledge manager and software manager. After achieving this qualification candidates may choose to undertake studies at higher education level.
