About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have significant experience in specialist technical skills, or managerial business and people management skills. Individuals in these roles carry out complex tasks in a specialist field, working independently, leading a team or a strategic direction of a business. They apply their skills across a wide range of industries and business functions, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor). The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to: Advanced Data Management Information: Creating, designing and monitoring complex systems that store data, and optimising organisational knowledge management; Cyber Security: Protecting sensitive data and information through security architecture, and developing disaster recovery and contingency plans; Full Stack Web Development: Building advanced user interfaces, developing representational state transfer application program interfaces (REST APIs) and designing user experience solutions; Further Programming: Applying advanced ICT languages to maintain security and manage data; IT strategy and organisational development: Managing and communicating strategic ICT business solutions; Systems development and analysis: Modelling and testing data objects, data processes and preferred ICT system solutions; Telecommunications network engineering: Managing logistics, organisational specifications, regulations and legislative requirements across network projects.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of course commencement.
Prospective students may be required to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and/or a pre-enrolment interview.
Must have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent level of schooling or a Certificate III or higher qualification with an Australian institution.
Must demonstrate English level of IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent, such as: IBT 60, PTE 50, CAE 169, OET B, General English Advanced or equivalent, MOI Certificate, Duolingo 95, MET, LANGUAGECERT Academic, CELPIP General.
Certificate IV or higher qualification with an Australian institution.
Must have basic digital literacy, including the ability to confidently use the internet and common software applications for learning purposes, completing assignments, and engaging with course content.
Must be able to participate in training within a simulated workplace environment, including performing manual handling tasks.

What are the tuition fees for the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology?

The tuition fee for the ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology is AUD $6,000, with a material/placement fee of AUD $1,000, for a course duration of 26 weeks as listed in the individual course fee schedule.

How is the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology assessed?

Assessment methods used throughout the course include: Written Questions or Report (to demonstrate understanding of theoretical concepts), Practical Activity or Project (hands-on activities simulating real-world tasks), Case Study (analysis of industry-relevant scenarios), Observation (during practical sessions or workplace activities), and Work Placement (where applicable, supervised and assessed according to workplace standards).

What qualification do I receive upon completing the course, and what if I don't finish all units?

Students who successfully complete all 16 units will receive the certificate of ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology. Learners who partially complete the qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units they are deemed competent.

Can I receive credit for previous study or work experience?

Yes. Lead College recognises qualifications issued by other RTOs and will accept and mutually recognise qualifications and Statements of Attainment awarded by any other registered training organisation. Credit Transfer is available for completed units where equivalence can be established. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is also available for skills and knowledge gained through work and life experience and unrecognised training, determined based on your experience, work history, and previous training.

What are the English language requirements for entry into this course?
