Common Questions
This qualification will be delivered over 78 weeks, including 60 weeks of training and assessment spread over 6 terms of 10 weeks each and 18 weeks of holidays. However, SABT students who have completed the ICT50220 Diploma of Information Technology qualification may receive Credit Transfers for equivalent units, and can complete ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology within 52 weeks.
Students must have an IELTS score of 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through: successful completion of a foundation course in Australia; successful completion of at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; education for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or successful completion of an LLN test. Other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can also be accepted if confirmed equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
This program is delivered in the classroom and through structured self-study at two campus locations: Sydney Campus at 95 Bathurst Street, Sydney, NSW 2000, and Adelaide Campus at 97 Pirie St, Adelaide, SA 5000.
Students who complete this course may be able to seek employment as an e-security specialist, ICT security specialist, IT security administrator, systems/network administrator, network security specialist, senior network administrator, or systems security analyst. Students may also wish to continue their education into higher education in a Bachelor of Information Technology (Networking and Cybersecurity).
Assessment will occur through a variety of methods, including projects incorporating role-plays, case studies, observations, and short answer questions. Assessment conditions will ensure a simulated workplace environment for classroom-based assessment. Assessment tasks reflect real life work tasks, are performed within industry standard timeframes, are assessed using criteria relating to the quality of work expected by the industry, and require students to work with others as part of a team using standard workplace equipment such as computers and software.
