Advanced Diploma of Information Technology

The ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology, specialising in Telecommunications Network Engineering, is designed for students with significant technical expertise or managerial and people-management experience who want to carry out complex work in a specialist ICT field — whether working independently, leading a team, or guiding the strategic direction of a business. Graduates apply their skills across a wide range of industries and business functions, including as business owners, sole traders or contractors, with a particular focus on managing logistics, organisational specifications, and regulatory and legislative requirements across telecommunications network projects. Across its 16 units of competency, students build skills in applying critical thinking to complex problem-solving, managing team effectiveness, promoting workplace cyber security awareness, interacting with clients at a business level, and managing IP, ethics and privacy in ICT environments, alongside elective units in advanced IP network troubleshooting, network traffic management, ICT network architecture design and ICT project planning. The course runs over 94 weeks, including 72 weeks of training and 22 weeks of holidays, delivered on campus at VIC's Adelaide, Brisbane and Gold Coast campuses. Graduates are prepared for senior ICT roles such as Telecommunications Network Engineer, Knowledge Manager, eLearning Manager, Enterprise Application Integration Consultant, Enterprise Architecture Manager and Software Manager.
