Advanced Diploma of Information Technology

The ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology at Thames International College reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have significant experience in specialist technical skills, or in managerial business and people management skills.

Individuals in these roles carry out complex tasks in a specialist field, working independently, leading a team, or setting the strategic direction of a business. They apply their skills across a wide range of industries and business functions, or as a business owner working as a sole trader or contractor. The qualification comprises 16 units — 6 core and 10 electives — covering critical thinking for complex problem solving, managing team effectiveness, workplace cyber security awareness, interacting with clients on a business level, managing IP, ethics and privacy in ICT environments, planning and monitoring business analysis activities, identity management best practices, virtualised cyber security infrastructure, gathering business requirements, advanced user interfaces, project quality and governance, knowledge management systems, cyber security compliance, risk assessments and incident response planning.

The course runs for 104 weeks in total (80 study weeks delivered as 8 terms of 10 weeks, plus 24 weeks of holidays) at the College's North Sydney campus. It is delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting combined with distance learning — 14 hours of classroom training per week plus 6 hours of structured distance training — with approximately 5 hours of additional unsupervised study each week.

Students who complete this course may continue their education into higher education qualifications in information technology.
