Advanced Diploma of Information Technology

The Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Telecommunications Network Engineering) (ICT60220) reflects the role of individuals in a variety of ICT roles who bring significant experience in specialist technical skills or managerial and people-management skills. Graduates carry out complex tasks in a specialist field, working independently, leading a team, or setting the strategic direction of a business, across a wide range of industries and business functions. The specialisation covers advanced data management, cyber security, full-stack web development, further ICT programming, IT strategy and organisational development, systems development and analysis, and telecommunications network engineering, including managing logistics, specifications, regulations and legislative requirements across network projects. The qualification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and is delivered by Yarra College Australia in a classroom environment incorporating a simulated workplace context. Students complete 16 units of competency in total, covering critical thinking, team effectiveness, cyber security awareness, client and IP management, business analysis planning, network troubleshooting, ICT project management, network traffic and architecture, wireless network design, and network security. The course runs over 104 weeks and involves 2,400 hours of training, learning and assessment, including 1,600 hours of classroom training and supervised assessment, plus 10 hours of self-study per week. Graduates are prepared for roles such as knowledge manager, eLearning manager, enterprise application integration consultant, enterprise architecture manager or software manager, and may progress to a bachelor's degree in information technology.
