About This Course

The Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB60420) reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience, in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Delivered face-to-face in the classroom at The Wales Institute's Surry Hills campus, the course runs over 49 weeks — 40 weeks of training and assessment across four 10-week terms plus 9 weeks of holidays — at 20 hours per week (800 total training hours). Core units cover leading organisational change, providing leadership across an organisation, developing and implementing business plans, managing innovation and continuous improvement, and applying critical thinking to complex problem solving, with electives in strategic workforce planning, organisational strategy, corporate social responsibility, digital strategy and diversity and inclusion. TWI operates rolling enrolments with no prerequisites. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and credit transfer are available and may reduce course duration and fees.

General Requirements

Domestic Students:

Demonstrated capacity in learning, reading, writing, oral and numeracy competencies to the appropriate level of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF), tested prior to enrolment

International Students:

Minimum English proficiency: Academic IELTS overall band score 5.5 (minimum 5.0 in each band, test result no more than 2 years old), or equivalent — TOEFL iBT 46, PTE Academic 42, CAE 162, or OET Pass (A or B)
Exemptions apply for citizens/passport holders of the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand or Republic of Ireland; students with 5+ years' study in Australia, NZ, Canada, South Africa or Republic of Ireland; students who completed the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or an AQF Certificate IV or higher in Australia within 2 years; students enrolled full-time in secondary school, postgraduate research or a standalone ELICOS program; or Foreign Affairs/Defence-sponsored students
Students without a qualifying test score may sit an on-campus English Placement Test, and may be interviewed by Student Services to confirm suitability
