Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management

The BSB60420 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management at Thames International College reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters.

They use cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and transfer their knowledge to others, and apply creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems. The qualification comprises 10 units — 5 core and 5 electives — spanning critical thinking for complex problem solving, leading organisational change, providing leadership across the organisation, developing and implementing business plans, managing innovation and continuous improvement, organisational strategy, digital strategy review, workplace communication and professional development.

The course runs for 52 weeks in total (40 study weeks delivered as 4 terms of 10 weeks, plus 12 weeks of holidays) at the College's North Sydney campus. Delivery is face-to-face in a classroom-based setting combined with distance learning: 14 hours of classroom training per week plus 6 hours of structured distance training, with roughly 5 further hours of unsupervised study expected each week.

Entry is limited by the Training Package to applicants holding a Diploma or Advanced Diploma from the BSB Training Package, or with two years of equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience in an operational or leadership role.
