Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management

The Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB60420) reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. At this advanced level, students use initiative and judgement to plan and implement leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters, and apply cognitive, communication and conceptual skills to respond to complex business problems. Entry is intended for those who have already completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma from the BSB Training Package, or who bring at least two years of equivalent full-time workplace experience in an operational or leadership role. The qualification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and is delivered by Yarra College Australia in a classroom environment with internet access. Students complete 10 units of competency in total, covering critical thinking for complex problem solving, leading organisational change, providing leadership across the organisation, business planning, innovation and continuous improvement, corporate social responsibility, and diversity and inclusion strategy. The course runs over 52 weeks, with 44 weeks of training and assessment delivered across four 11-week study periods and 8 weeks of study breaks, at 20 hours per week. Graduates are prepared for senior professional and managerial roles and may progress to further study such as a Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Business Management.
