Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management

The Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB60420) at HJ Australian Institute reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters. They use cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and transfer their knowledge to others, and creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems.

The qualification runs for a total of 52 weeks — 44 weeks of tuition plus 8 weeks of scheduled breaks — and is delivered face to face at HJ Australian Institute's Hobart campus in Tasmania, with rolling intakes throughout the year. Students complete 10 units of competency: 5 core units covering critical thinking, organisational change, leadership across the organisation, business planning and continuous improvement, plus 5 electives in influential communication, developing critical thinking in others, innovative thinking, strategic planning and professional development. Entry to this qualification is restricted, so applicants need either a prior BSB Diploma or Advanced Diploma or two years of relevant workplace experience. On successful completion of all required units, students are issued with the Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB60420) and an academic transcript within 30 calendar days; students who complete individual units but not the full qualification receive a Statement of Attainment.
