To enter the BSB60520 Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Communication, applicants must have either completed specific units including BSBMKG541, BSBMKG542, BSBMKG552, BSBMKG555, and BSBPMG430 (or equivalent competencies), or have four years of equivalent full-time relevant work experience. Additionally, all applicants must be 18 years of age or over, have satisfactorily completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent, and have an English proficiency level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or pass the HIA English Assessment.
The course is delivered over a period of 78 weeks, equating to 54 contact study weeks plus 24 weeks for holidays. Students study 20 hours per week through a blended delivery mode of 14 hours face to face in the classroom plus 6 hours online study.
A total of 12 units of competency are required to receive this qualification, comprising 4 core units and 8 elective units. Core units include Develop organisational marketing strategy (BSBMKG621), Manage organisational marketing processes (BSBMKG622), Develop marketing plans (BSBMKG623), and Develop and maintain strategic business networks (BSBTWK601). Elective units cover areas such as market research, advertising campaigns, business plans, digital strategy, and innovation.
Assessment is competency based. Students are required to complete written and practical tasks, which reflect the requirements of the units of competency and current workplace practices. Assessment is continuous throughout the duration of the course. Students are provided with a Student Assessment Booklet at the commencement of each unit of competency, which sets out the range and types of assessments that will be used for that unit.
Once students have completed the BSB60520 Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Communication, they will be able to seek employment or continue their studies into higher education. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include Marketing and Communications Manager and Account Manager (Advertising). Graduates of this qualification may also undertake further study such as a Bachelor program in the same field.
