About This Course

Myotherapy course will prepare students to become a Myotherapist specialising in the assessment, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal conditions to enable them to use clinical skills to location the sources of the symptoms and identify dysfunctions. Dry needling, Cupping and Tens machine are used in conjunction with Myotherapy techniques to treat clients. Underpinning knowledge of Anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics and pathology is required to understand the relationship between the myofascial and also how the muscles and connective tissues relate to other systems of the body.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Minimum 18 years of age
Successful completion of the college's LLND (Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy) assessment with a minimum language, literacy and oral communication skills equivalent to Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 3. However, these learners may require additional support, as learners are best equipped to successfully undertake the training if they have language, literacy, and oral communication skills equivalent to ACSF Level 4 and numbers skills equivalent to ACSF Level 4 and numbers skills equivalent to ACSF Level 3.
Have successfully completed the Diploma of Remedial Massage (either HLT52015 or HLT52021), Or Hold the HLT50307 Diploma of Remedial Massage and have current membership at a practitioner-level (not affiliate membership) as a Remedial Massage Therapist with one of the following Australian professional associations: Association of Massage Therapists (AMT), Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA), Massage Association of Australia (MAA), Myotherapy Association of Australia (MA), Massage & Myotherapy Association (MMA), Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ATMS)

Computer skills include being comfortable using computers and the Internet to perform basic tasks such as accessing an online video conferencing software; using Microsoft Word and Adobe Reader; downloading, scanning, and uploading documents; accessing online materials; looking up information; reading and sending emails; and completing forms.

How many clinical hours are required to complete the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy?

Students enrolled in the 22656VIC Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy are required to complete a minimum of 80 hours of practical experience in MTI's fully supervised Student Massage Clinic. Clients must include males and females from different stages of life.

What are the prerequisite qualifications needed to enrol in this course?
