Advanced Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management

The Advanced Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management (SIT60122) at TasTAFE gives students the skills to become a manager or supervisor within the tourism industry, or to effectively operate their own travel or tourism business. The course provides an advanced understanding of how the tourism industry operates, including business operations and regulations, culturally suitable and sustainable practices, and efficient planning techniques. Students learn to research and comply with regulatory requirements, source and use information on the tourism and travel industry, develop tourism products, write complex documents, develop and implement marketing strategies, and lead diversity in the workplace. The course also covers developing and implementing a business plan, managing quality customer service practices, establishing and conducting business relationships, leading and managing people, monitoring work operations, and managing business risk, financial information and budgets.

The program is delivered in tandem with the SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management. Domestically it runs full-time from the Drysdale Collins Street campus in Hobart, with tuition of $9,645 subsidised or $20,960 commercial plus a $459 online learning fee; internationally it runs for 52 weeks in Hobart at 20 hours per week with a July intake, at AUD $15,255. Graduates can work in any sector of the tourism industry as a senior manager, general manager or owner-operator, and the University of Tasmania offers articulation pathways giving credit towards the Bachelor of Business Administration (Tourism Management).
