Your studies will cover the Australian healthcare system, and the major health issues currently facing the community. Once you have established the principles of health and health management, you will begin to explore chronic disease, evidence-based health practice, health promotion, and more. You will also learn about psychology, project management and exercise for health conditions, with a focus on health promotion.
Yes. The program is connected to the health industry through its Industry Advisory Committee. In the final semester, students undertake the unit Health Industry Project and Practice, which provides an opportunity to work in industry with an 80-hour placement. This ensures you are work-ready, with a greater understanding of the career paths offered in the health industry.
Yes. Graduates of this course will be guaranteed entry into further undergraduate degrees including the Bachelor of Biomedical Science and the Bachelor of Psychology, with credit that may apply to reduce the total duration of the destination course. Additionally, you can choose to graduate at the end of first year with a Higher Education Diploma in Health Sciences.
This program includes practical placement and requires applicants to hold a valid Victorian Working with Children (WWC) Check (valid for 5 years) prior to undertaking professional placement. You must also present evidence of a successful Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check prior to undertaking the clinical components of this course. Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks are conducted via fit2work, and all relevant screening and compliance check fees are at your own expense.
The minimum ATAR for this program is 42.40 (referring to the lowest selection rank to which an offer was made, including consideration of any adjustments, for current and recent Year 12 applicants). Entry to this program is competitive, and eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement plus any adjustment factors, up to a maximum of 28 aggregate adjustment points.
