The Civil Construction and Intelligent Machines specialisations are currently provisionally accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of Engineering Associate (Dublin Accord), and the Associate Degree of Engineering is designed to meet the requirements for accreditation at the level of Engineering Associate by Engineers Australia.
Students can choose one of two specialisations: Civil Construction, where students develop practical skills and knowledge related to civil construction systems, transport systems, built structures, and sustainable water systems; or Intelligent Machines, where students develop practical skills and knowledge related to design and production systems, sustainable energy and power systems, smart machines, and robotics and control systems.
Yes. As part of this course, students must demonstrate satisfactory completion of 30 days (240 hours) engagement with professional practice with an organisation conducting work related to engineering practice. Industry experience enables students to apply their knowledge and skills to engineering problems within a real work environment, and to make valuable contacts within industry.
Yes. All students, including online students, must complete ONE compulsory on-campus residential. It is typically conducted over 3 days and occurs in the first year (based on a full-time study program).
