Associate Degree of Ministry

The Associate Degree of Ministry is an undergraduate award in ministry at Level 6 of the Australian Qualifications Framework. It consists of 192 credit points, which normally takes two years of full-time study or the part-time equivalent, with up to six years allowed to complete the course part-time.

The course introduces students to the sources and content of the Christian story and message, and provides training which emphasises the application and practice of that story and message in the contemporary world. It requires specialisation in the disciplines by which knowledge of God is applied to guide Christian practice: Evangelism and Missiology (EM), Pastoral & Church Focused Ministry (PC) and Development and Education Ministry (DE), integrating study of the Bible and the Christian tradition with practical experience and supervised practice-based learning where appropriate.

The 192 credit points include a common core of 24cps of Old Testament Introduction, 24cps of New Testament Introduction, 24cps in Christian Thought (with at least 12cps CH and 12cps TH/PE), and 24cps of Old and New Testament set books. A further 48cps is taken in PC/EM/DE as the primary course discipline, including at least 24cps at Level 6 or above, with at least 48cps of elective units from any unit field. Through those electives students can develop particular ministry skills across the three fields of Ministry & Practice or build foundational understanding in the Bible and Christian Thought & History.

Units are completed at Level 5 and above, with no more than 144cps at Level 5 and at least 48cps at Level 6 or above. The Associate Degree articulates to the Bachelor of Ministry and carries exit points to the Advanced Diploma of Ministry, the Diploma of Ministry and the Undergraduate Certificate of Ministry.
