Course Overview

About This Course

The Bachelor of 3D Design and Animation builds the technical skills, creative development and practical experience needed for a career in 3D design and animation. Students master 3D modelling, animation and interactive design for the games industry, gaining an understanding of emerging areas of the field and niche specialist skills, while working on live client projects and internships alongside industry professionals to sharpen their skills in real-world settings. Learning outcomes include exploring design and animation theory and context, working with industry-standard creative processes and briefs, complementing a specialisation with electives from other disciplines, and experimenting with the latest advances in VR and AR. Students undertake 120 hours of experience through an internship or a live industry brief.

The course includes a free Adobe Creative Cloud Pro licence for the duration of study and six months after graduation, and is delivered by a Houdini SideFX certified school. The program consistently appears in the Rookies World School Rankings, the international ranking of creative media and entertainment schools, and was ranked in the Top 10 Animation Schools in Australia/New Zealand by Career Animation in 2025. Delivered online, on campus and in blended mode at Sydney and online, the course runs three years full time or six years part time, at AQF Level 7, by Torrens University Australia Ltd trading as Billy Blue College of Design.

Hear From the Students

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
