Yes, the program is accredited by the Actuaries Institute. Bond is one of seven universities in Australia and the only university in Queensland to hold this accreditation. The program structure allows attainment of exemptions from all components of Part I (Foundation Program) accreditation with the Actuaries Institute.
In Year 1, you will complete essential introductory and intermediate level subjects, including eight required subjects covering mathematical statistics, linear modelling and econometrics, stochastic processes and survival analysis, and basic principles of economics, accounting, finance and quantitative methods. In Year 2, you will complete six intermediate subjects including financial mathematics, contingent payment methods, corporate finance, and actuarial and financial models, as well as six electives which may form parts of available majors of your choosing.
As a Bond Business School student, you will have exclusive access to state-of-the-art learning resources including the Bond FinTech Hub, Commercialisation Centre, Centre for Data Analytics, and Transformer. The Bond FinTech Hub gives you the opportunity to gain a Bloomberg certification, and the Centre for Data Analytics provides an advanced computing environment with experts in the field.
Yes, students have global opportunities to bolster their experience during their degree, including internship placements, study tours, or a study abroad semester. In Year 2, you will have the opportunity to undertake a study tour or business internship as an elective subject, and in your final year you can also choose to undertake an International Semester or Exchange Program.
Employment opportunities include working as an investment analyst, portfolio manager, actuarial consultant, insurance actuary, superannuation actuary, risk analyst, big data analyst, liability manager and high-level manager. Successful completion of the program can also lead to Part I qualification with the Actuaries Institute.
