Actuarial Control Cycle 1
Provides an understanding of how actuarial principles can be applied to a range of problems and issues in commercial and business environments.
Actuarial Research Thesis Part A
Work on a topic motivated by recent developments and innovations in actuarial industries or more generally in the financial services markets. Students need to approach potential supervisors before semester starts to discuss supervision and possible research topics.
Actuarial Control Cycle 2
Builds on the skills developed in Actuarial Control Cycle 1 and applies the theory learned to commercial scenarios.
Statistical Learning and Regression Models
Completed in the second and final semester of the Honours program.
Actuarial Research Thesis Part B
Work on a topic motivated by recent developments and innovations in actuarial industries or more generally in the financial services markets.
Common Questions
Successful completion of the program at the appropriate level of achievement provides all university components of Part II (Actuary Program) accreditation with the Actuaries Institute. However, full Part II (Actuary program) accreditation requires the completion of two additional subjects which are only delivered by the Actuaries Institute in an online environment.
The program is an 80 credit point, two-semester program (8 months) of independent research and study culminating in the production of a research thesis and presentation of a research seminar.
In Semester 1, you may complete Actuarial Control Cycle 1, Research Thesis Part A, and an approved elective honour. In Semester 2, you will complete Actuarial Control Cycle 2, Statistical Learning and Regression Models, and Actuarial Research Thesis Part B.
