Bachelor of Advanced Biomedical Sciences (Honours)

You can choose to major in either Discovery Bioscience or Clinical Medical Science. The Discovery Bioscience major explores advances in knowledge of the biological processes that underpin human health, covering topics such as genomics, bioinformatics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics, and the application of new technologies. The Clinical Medical Science major explores clinical biosciences and emerging therapies through topics such as population and personalised medicine, and clinical trials, with a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, immunology and regenerative medicine.

In your final year, you'll complete a full-year research program in the laboratory of an approved university, research institute or industry research site, giving you substantial hands-on experience in biomedical research.

You need a minimum ATAR or equivalent selection rank of 90 to be considered for entry into this course. Meeting the minimum ATAR does not guarantee selection. ATAR adjustment factors such as equity factors can raise your Selection Rank above your ATAR and are applied automatically through TISC.

The essential prerequisite subjects are Chemistry ATAR and either Mathematics Methods ATAR or Mathematics Specialist ATAR. Desirable subjects include Human Biology ATAR or Biology ATAR, and Physics ATAR.

Students will complete a full-year research program in their final year within the laboratory of an approved university, research institute or industry research site. The course also includes project units with strong industry and research collaboration, and students can take part in a research roadshow visiting laboratories and clinical site trials.
