You'll also learn about the laws and regulations that apply to businesses, and how business and marketing strategies can create value and positively impact society and the environment.
Applied Research: Business and Society
A core business research unit in second year. With guidance from experienced faculty and industry partners, you'll sharpen your critical thinking, broaden your perspective, and learn to communicate ideas with impact. You'll also explore global issues, emerging technologies and ethical decision-making.
Common Questions
In your fourth year, you can choose one of two pathways: the Research pathway, which will give you the foundation for higher study and research if you are intending to continue onto postgraduate study and complete a PhD; or the Industry pathway, which will further your practical skills through a work placement or study tour combined with an industry project.
Yes. You can exit this degree with a Bachelor of Commerce after completing 600 credits (equivalent to three years of full-time study). If you have a course-weighted average (CWA) lower than 75%, Curtin may recommend exiting with a three-year bachelor degree rather than completing your honours.
Upon graduation from the Advanced Commerce degree, you may qualify for direct entry into many postgraduate courses, including the Master of Commerce and Master of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. If you studied the research pathway in your fourth year, you may also qualify for direct entry into research degrees such as the Master of Research. If you graduated with first or upper second class honours, you may be eligible to pursue a PhD without needing to complete a master degree first.
Wherever possible, the business majors within this course are designed to conform to the membership standards of relevant professional bodies. You should refer to individual business majors for specific professional recognition and accreditation information.
High-achieving students may be eligible for extracurricular activities designed to increase employability. These may include LinkedIn Learning (augmented skill-building resources for independent development) and the High Achievers Program (a fast-track industry experience that will accelerate your professional development).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
