Students can choose from the following Advanced Science majors: Aquaculture Science and Technology, Chemistry, Data Science, Environmental Earth Science, Geology, Marine Biology, Mathematics, Molecular and Cell Biology, and others — with a total of 10 different majors available. Students can also choose a second major or a minor to complement their studies.
The minimum adjusted ATAR required for entry is 90. Mathematical Methods (Units 3/4, C) is a required subject. Recommended knowledge includes English (Units 3/4, C) and Chemistry (Units 3/4, C). Non-school leavers can have their qualifications and work experience assessed to obtain an equivalent score.
The Bachelor of Advanced Science takes 3 years to complete as a full-time student, or 6 years part-time. Students who wish to gain Honours can do so with an additional year of study, during which they develop a research project from start to finish.
The indicative annual Commonwealth Supported Fee for a full-time study load is $8,280+. This estimate is variable and subject to fluctuation depending on choice of elective subjects. The Student Services and Amenities fee is also required. Fee deferral options (HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP) and scholarships are available if eligible. Fees displayed are for 2026 and are subject to change in following years.
Students can apply their skills and knowledge to real-world research projects and have the opportunity to be published in international scientific journals. The degree includes a research internship or practical placement, overseas exchange programs, and hands-on experiments in some of the most interesting places on Earth. Students have access to World Heritage natural environments, state-of-the-art learning facilities, and research sites such as the JCU Orpheus Island Field Station and the Marine and Aquaculture Research Facility.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
