Common Questions
The Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours)/Bachelor of Fine Arts is a double degree that you can complete in five years with full-time study, requiring a minimum of 240 units of credit (UOC).
In the Fine Arts component, you'll have your pick of seven distinctive specialisations to focus deeply on the creative field that matters to you, including animation and moving image, art theory, music, and visual arts. Please note that acceptance into the Music specialisation requires an audition.
For domestic students, the 2026 Lowest Selection Rank is 93.0 (ATAR plus adjustment factors) and the 2026 Lowest ATAR (before adjustment factors) is 91.9. Assumed knowledge includes Mathematics Advanced or Mathematics Extension 1 (depending on chosen area of study) plus one or more of Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, or Physics. Adjustment factors such as HSC Plus (up to 5 points), Elite Athletes Performers and Leaders (up to 5 points), and the Educational Access Scheme (1–10 points) may also apply.
Students can bridge the gap between study and employment through Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and Research Integrated Learning (RIL) opportunities, which allow you to explore different career paths and apply your skills professionally while being guided by world-leading academics. The degree also incorporates industry experiences such as exhibitions, screenings, studio internships, performances and ensembles, and students can join the STEM Career Launchpad extra-curricular program. UNSW Science has over 400 industry and research partners you can connect with while studying.
Yes, students have the chance to take their studies abroad through International Student Exchange, with UNSW having over 300 partner universities to choose from. There are also global internship opportunities, including an eight-week science work placement in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
