This course is unique in Western Australia, combining agricultural science and agribusiness with options in spatial science, data analytics, supply-chain management and business management. It also engages with world-class research programs in crop and disease management, post-harvest horticulture, aquaculture management and land rehabilitation.
You'll engage in self-directed experiments at Curtin's dedicated field-trial site and glasshouse facilities, participate in field trips to research centres, agronomic field sites and farms, and complete 60 days of work experience with an agriculture research, production or business organisation in Australia or internationally.
You need a guaranteed ATAR or equivalent of 70, with Mathematics Applications ATAR as an essential prerequisite subject. Desirable subjects include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and several others. English language requirements include an IELTS Academic overall band score of 6 (with no component below 6). There are also alternative entry pathways via VET/TAFE, work/life experience, and portfolio entry.
Graduates can pursue careers as agricultural and resource economists, agronomists, farming consultants, farm managers, soil scientists, research trials managers, biotechnologists, or grain traders, across industries including agriculture, banking and finance, consultancy, and agricultural research. Graduates are also eligible to commence the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science's professional development accreditation, Certified Practising Agriculturalist.
Yes, you can further your studies by building advanced research expertise through honours or postgraduate qualifications, including a Bachelor of Science (Honours), Master of Philosophy, or Doctor of Philosophy.
