Common Questions
The Bachelor of Agricultural Science integrates the rapidly developing field of AgTech with key agricultural science subjects. Students develop skills in digital agriculture, agricultural economics, soil science, and crop and livestock production, learning to integrate agricultural systems with new digital technologies for improved farm efficiency and productivity.
Students have access to the UWA Plant Growth Facility (PGF), which includes 19 greenhouses, 8 phytotrons, 29 plant growth rooms and 8 plant growth cabinets for controlled environment experiments. They can also use the Remotely Piloted Aerial Sensing Platform (RASP) for drone and environmental sensing, and the Shenton Park Field Station — a large-scale agricultural research facility located 7 kilometres from the Crawley Campus — for broader-scale field experiments.
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is available to all science undergraduate students through two units: SCIE2205 Science Work Placement Unit and SCIE2206 Science Consultancy Project. These units help bridge the gap between theory and practice by providing hands-on, practical, industry-relevant experience.
On completion of the Bachelor of Agricultural Science, students can pursue further study through the Master of Agricultural Science or the Master of Agricultural Economics, specialising in Agribusiness. There is also a combined Bachelor of Agricultural Science and Master of Agricultural Science pathway available.
UWA is ranked 1st in Australia and 13th in the world for Agricultural Sciences (GRAS 2025), and ranked 1st in Australia for Soil Sciences according to The Australian's 2025 Research magazine.
