Yes. If you decide not to continue in the combined bachelor's and master's (CBM) program, you can exit after three years with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Advanced). Note that the Advanced Bachelor Degree is available only as a CBM exit award — it is not offered for direct enrolment and is not awarded on completion of the full CBM.
The Master of Agricultural Science offers specialisations in Agricultural Economics, Crop and Livestock Farming Systems, Genetics and Breeding, or Soil Science and Plant Nutrition.
UWA is well-equipped for teaching and research with a field station, a research farm, and outstanding research facilities including the UWA Plant Growth Facility (which consists of 19 greenhouses, 8 phytotrons, 29 plant growth rooms and 8 plant growth cabinets), the Shenton Park Field Station (a large-scale agricultural research facility 7 kilometres from Crawley Campus), the School of Agriculture and Environment, the Institute of Agriculture, the Centre for Plant Genetics and Breeding, SoilsWest, and the Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative.
You will learn to integrate agricultural knowledge with skills in geographic information systems (GIS), programming and data analysis to guide decision making for improved agricultural productivity; be a critical thinker able to address global challenges such as climate change and increasing demand for food and fibre; assess how climate, soils, plants, animals and farm management practices influence agricultural production; evaluate agricultural trade and commodity marketing; and undertake research projects from inception and design of experimental hypotheses through to testing, analyses and communication of results.
UWA is ranked 1st in Australia and 13th in the world for Agricultural Sciences (GRAS 2025), and 2nd in Australia and 50th in the world for Agriculture and Forestry (QS 2026).
