Common Questions
The Bachelor of Agriculture offers three majors: Agronomy, AgTech, and Livestock. Available minors include Agronomy, AgTech, Earth and Climate Science, Liberal Studies, Livestock, Science and Environment, and Sustainable Futures. Note that some majors and minors are incompatible — for example, you cannot complete the Agronomy Major and the Agronomy Minor together. CQU recommends using the course planner to help choose your major and minor combination.
Yes, students studying via distance and mixed-mode will be required to attend compulsory residential schools for some units. Units with residential school requirements include Soil and Irrigation Management, Plant Science and Crop Production, Plant and Livestock Breeding Strategies, Livestock Production, Driving Productivity in Food Production Systems, Agronomy, Rangeland and Pasture Management, and Animal and Plant Physiology.
The Professional Placement or Project (BIOL12050) is a Work Integrated Learning unit that provides students with an opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills attained in their degree to the professional work environment. Students undertake either an industry placement or a short research project for 120 hours, then report on their experience in an appropriate format — identifying the nature of work and activities undertaken and reflecting on how the knowledge and skills relate to their course of study and future career.
The indicative first-year fee for 2026 is $9,950 for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP). This course has Commonwealth Supported Places available, meaning the Australian Government subsidises a portion of the cost and you only pay the student contribution. Eligible domestic students may also access a HECS-HELP loan to defer part or all of their student contribution fees. Additional costs such as textbooks, technology, travel, and residential schools may also apply.
The Bachelor of Agriculture is available both on campus and online. On-campus locations include Bundaberg, Emerald, and Rockhampton in Queensland. The course can be completed full-time over 3 years or part-time over 6 years, with the next available intake being Term 2, 2026.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
