Bachelor of Allied Health

The Bachelor of Allied Health (BAlliedHlth) is an undergraduate award of Australian Catholic University, set out in the ACU Handbook for 2027. ACU publishes no separate course overview for this award, so the handbook is the fullest account of what it involves. The handbook records the degree as an exit point from either the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, the Bachelor of Physiotherapy or the Bachelor of Speech Pathology, so it is taken up by students who have completed a substantial part of one of those professional degrees rather than entered it directly. The award carries 240 credit points and has a minimum duration of three years full-time or the equivalent part-time. To qualify, a student completes 220 to 230 credit points drawn from the units of one of the three parent degrees, excluding their Core Curriculum units, together with 10 to 20 credit points from ACU's Core Curriculum. The Core Curriculum options listed in the handbook include Being Human, Ethics and the Good Life, Making Sense: Practical Reasoning for Life and Career, Revolutionary Values: Christianity in History, People Matter: Catholic Social Thought, Life and Meaning: Imagining Ourselves through Art and Cinema, The Origins of the Sciences and Contemporary Challenges, Justice in the World: Catholic Social Ethics in Global Perspective, and Sacred Land: Australian Indigenous Spiritualities and Catholic Thought. Approved locations are Ballarat, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and North Sydney. Students follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide unless otherwise approved, and are advised throughout by the Course Adviser.
