You will benefit from project-based and work-integrated learning opportunities, industry placements, and capstone projects. You have the opportunity to undertake at least 10 weeks of supervised work experience, which is normally undertaken in the summer vacation period between years 2 and 3 of the degree. In your final year, you will complete an Aviation Industry Project receiving feedback from industry practitioners, and create a Business Graduate Folio using an ePortfolio to demonstrate personal accomplishments.
Yes, there are opportunities to study abroad through global work, exchange and study experiences. Scholarship places, funded under a New Columbo Plan agreement, may be available for selected second-year aviation students to study for three months at one of RMIT's offshore partner institutes in Hong Kong.
The degree is highly flexible. In years 3 and 4, you have the opportunity to tailor your degree to your preferred area of future employment. The Bachelor of Business component enables you to choose from 13 majors and over 30 minors, in addition to general, business and aviation electives available throughout the program.
The minimum ATAR for domestic students is 83.00. Entry to this program is competitive, and eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement plus any adjustment factors, up to a maximum of 28 aggregate adjustment points.
In Year 1, you develop breadth of skills and knowledge across the aviation industry while learning business basics such as economics, accounting or international business. In Year 2, you study the operational and management aspects of airlines and airports, as well as cargo and logistics, ground handling, and safety, alongside business subjects such as marketing and pricing strategies. In Years 3 and 4, you tailor your degree to your preferred employment area, completing an Aviation Industry Project and a Business Graduate Folio in your final year. Overall areas of study include aviation management, airport operations, aviation security, global business, finance and business management.
