Course Content
Honours Thesis A
Students attend classes on research methods and statistics, ethics, library skills, writing a literature review, and presentation skills.
Honours Thesis B
Students work closely with their supervisor to carry out, analyse and synthesise their results, culminating in the submission of a thesis.
Common Questions
Each student will contribute to designing and/or implementing an approved research project and submit a thesis describing the project and its implications, comprised of their literature review, their research proposal, their journal manuscript and associated methods chapter, their final oral slides and their response to the questions.
In completing the research thesis, the student will work closely with academic staff, normally 2 co-supervisors, who will supervise their research activities. Students will meet regularly with their supervisors and attend seminars and workshops that contribute to the research process and their thesis.
Applications open on 21 October of the preceding year and close on 15 January of the commencing year, with offers made by 31 January of the commencing year.
Yes, this course has limited places available, and not all applicants who meet the application deadline and requirements may be successful.
In Semester 1, students commence BHSC4005: Honours Thesis A, focusing on research methods and statistics, ethics, library skills, writing a literature review, and presentation skills. In Semester 2, students undertake BHSC4006: Honours Thesis B, working closely with their supervisor to carry out, analyse and synthesise their results.
