Bachelor of Arts

The Bachelor of Arts offers the following majors: Anthropology and Sociology, Chinese, Creative Writing, Digital and Social Media, English and Cultural Studies, Geography, History, Indigenous Australian Culture, International Relations, Japanese, Journalism, Korean Studies, and Professional Writing and Publishing.

Yes, you can choose to study a single major or a double major. A single major provides more flexibility in your degree structure, while a double major offers the benefits of studying two complementary disciplines in equal amounts. You can add a second Arts major, or a major from Bachelor of Creative Arts (e.g. Fine Art, Screen Arts, Theatre Arts) or Bachelor of Commerce (e.g. Business Law, Economics, Finance, Marketing, and others).

The degree comprises 600 credits worth of units. You study 300 credits in the major of your choice (Step 1), and 300 credits through one of four options (Step 2): Option 1 is adding a second major; Option 2 is choosing two specialisations; Option 3 is choosing one specialisation and four electives; and Option 4 is choosing eight electives in any field in which you meet the unit prerequisites.

You must meet Curtin's English language requirements. For IELTS Academic, you need an overall band score of 6.5, with minimum scores of 6 in each of Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening. If you've completed a different English test or qualification, you may be able to use it to meet this requirement by checking accepted English tests on Curtin's English language requirements page.

The Bachelor of Arts is available both online and on campus. It is offered at Curtin Perth with intakes in Semester 1 and Semester 2. Availability may vary by major, and not all majors are offered online.
