Applicants must have completed a degree in the Faculty of Arts and Design with at least a grade point average of 5.0 (equivalent to a credit average), or a three-year degree in a cognate discipline with a relevant major in which they received a GPA of 5.0 or better. Pass degree graduates in similar disciplinary fields from other universities with comparable results may also be eligible. Students must show evidence of having performed in some subjects relevant to the proposed study at Distinction level or above, and must submit an Honours Supplementary Form after applying.
The dissertation may take two forms: (1) a thesis of 15,000–20,000 words in length, of formal academic prose, comprising a substantial piece of original research in an appropriate field; or (2) a substantial creative, design, or industry-relevant work, presented in a form appropriate to the field, accompanied by an exegesis of 3,000–5,000 words in length.
Yes, the course is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. Full-time study is completed in 1 year, while part-time study is spread over 2 years. The maximum time allowed from enrolment to course completion is 4 years.
