About This Course

The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Global Studies is for aspiring change-makers interested in the contemporary social issues that shape our world, including globalisation, social justice, environmental sustainability and international relations. This multi-disciplinary double degree lets you hone your passions and immerse yourself in creative and critical thought, with more than 20 arts majors and minors to choose from, including drama, communication, visual arts, sociology, history, politics and international relations, graphic design, psychology, studies of religion, geography and English. The award totals 320 credit points: 180 credit points of Bachelor of Arts units made up of two arts majors or one major and two minors, a community engagement unit and an elective; 120 credit points of Bachelor of Global Studies units made up of specified units, global studies electives or a minor, and 40 credit points of international experience units; and 20 credit points of ACU Core Curriculum. To accelerate your learning and build a global perspective beyond the classroom, the degree includes an overseas component: every student completes a semester of study abroad, an international internship or a semester program in Rome. International work experience is tailored to your interests and career goals through ACU's overseas internship partner organisations, and you can study abroad at one of ACU's 60 partner institutions around the world. You can also add a Diploma in Languages in Spanish or Italian alongside the degree. Delivery is flexible, including online, multimode and on-campus attendance, and students who meet the requirements may exit with a Bachelor of Arts or a Diploma in Liberal Arts.

General Requirements

Domestic students

An applicant must comply with ACU's Admission to Coursework Programs Policy, which includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent:
- New South Wales: Assumed knowledge - 2 units of English (any) (Band 3); Mathematics (other than Mathematics General 2) for study in Mathematics (Band 3)
- Queensland: Prerequisites - English (Units 3 & 4, C)
- Victoria: Prerequisites - Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL. Assumed knowledge: Units 3 and 4 Mathematical Methods or equivalent for study in Mathematics
Indicative ATAR: 58.50 (Brisbane), 58.50 (Melbourne), 58.50 (Strathfield).
English language requirements: an overall score of 6.0, with an individual score of 6.0 in writing and speaking and 5.5 in listening and reading.
Applicants who have completed at least two units of AQF-recognised study at bachelor level or above are assigned a new selection rank reflecting their study level, duration and grade point average; prior study or relevant work experience aligned with the learning outcomes of units in the course may earn credit or recognition of prior learning, which can shorten the time to complete.
ACU also assesses applicants on prior VET study, and on work and life experience.

International applicants must comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy, which includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement, and must also meet the English Language Proficiency requirements defined in that policy. The year 12 subject prerequisites are the same as those listed for domestic applicants.
