About This Course

Choose a career that will take you around the world when you study a double degree in arts and international studies. Analyse global issues and develop language skills while you hone your critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The Bachelor of Arts will equip you for today's rapidly changing world. You will develop skills and capabilities necessary to understand how the world has come to be the way it is today. Throughout your Bachelor of International Studies, you will analyse national and global issues, learn about the forces shaping the modern world and the theories that underpin our understanding of important global issues. Students are encouraged to undertake study abroad to further expand their skills. A double degree at UOW provides a world-class qualification in less time and at less cost than studying the two degrees separately. Having a double degree will give you a competitive advantage in a crowded job market. You must select at least one major from Bachelor of Arts and at least one major from Bachelor of International Studies.

UOW assumes students will have studied any two units of English
Ideally, students will have studied English Advanced
The minimum score for guaranteed entry is a Selection Rank of 72 (ATAR or IB Combined Rank plus any adjustments)
Other high-school qualifications considered include: GCE A-Levels, New Zealand NCEA Level 3, and overseas senior secondary qualifications comparable to Australian qualifications
For higher education study, you need to have completed at least half a year of full-time study (or part-time equivalent) at a Bachelor's degree level or higher
If English is not your first language, you must meet the University's English Language Requirements; accepted international test results include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants may apply through UOW's Woolyungah Indigenous Centre's Indigenous Admissions Program (IAP)
Domestic applicants with overseas qualifications must provide academic records, and the course must be at least one-sixth complete; non-English documents must include an official English translation
Students may be eligible for credit for prior learning based on prior studies or relevant professional experience

What is the minimum ATAR required to get into the Bachelor of Arts – Bachelor of International Studies at UOW?

For Autumn Session 2026, domestic UAC Early Bird applications are due 30 September 2025, international applications by 9 December 2025, direct domestic applications by 31 December 2025, and UAC final round by 29 January 2026. For Spring Session 2026, international applications are due 5 May 2026, direct domestic by 31 May 2026, and UAC final round by 2 July 2026.

Are Commonwealth Supported Places available for this course?

Yes, Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are available for this course. For eligible domestic students, Australian government funding will contribute towards your tuition fees. The remaining proportion, known as a student contribution, will depend on when you begin study (enrolment year) and study area.
