The Bachelor of Arts (Degree with Honours) is available to students who have completed a Bachelor of Arts degree within the last five years and have achieved academic excellence in their undergraduate degree.
Yes, students may specialise in one area of study (pure honours) or two (combined honours) depending on their chosen specialisation.
Faculty of Arts honours study can reduce the length of time by up to a year for some Masters degrees offered by the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Honours graduates are also eligible to apply for the Masters by Research or Doctor of Philosophy – Arts.
The course structure involves both coursework and a substantial research project. In the advanced coursework component, students gain further in-depth knowledge in particular areas of the discipline, while the research component enhances the ability to acquire advanced skills of analysis, develop original ideas, and apply innovative solutions to complex problems.
The Bachelor of Arts (Degree with Honours) has intake dates in February and July, and can be completed in 1 year full time or 2 years part time, and is delivered on campus at Parkville.
